# How we verify

Each fact is stored with its source and retrieval date. Census figures come from the Census of India 2011 District Census Handbook and Primary Census Abstract. Village locations come from OpenStreetMap, Wikidata or GeoNames, matched to census villages by name inside the correct tehsil boundary; ambiguous matches are left without coordinates. Station codes come from OpenStreetMap; STD codes from Wikidata are accepted only when they match the region's format. Distances marked straight-line are computed from coordinates; road distances are the Census's own. A place gets its own page only when enough verified facts exist.
